What are we looking for?
We’re looking for an Environment Artist who is comfortable taking ownership of in-game environments from concept through implementation. This role is ideal for someone who can design, block out, and polish playable worlds directly in Roblox Studio—balancing gameplay clarity, visual cohesion, and performance across devices.
You should have a strong understanding of environmental composition, scale, modularity, and optimization within live-service games. We’re looking for someone who can create immersive spaces while maintaining technical performance, readability, and player flow.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset are key, as you’ll work closely with Design, Engineering, and Art to ensure environments support gameplay systems and evolve smoothly over time. A player-first mindset and attention to polish are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Design, block out, and polish playable maps that support gameplay, readability, and player flow.
- Collaborate with designers and producers to align environments with game pillars, pacing, and LiveOps needs.
- Create 3D environment assets including buildings, props, foliage, rocks, and set dressing.
- Maintain a consistent visual language and scale across worlds and updates.
- Build and refine environments using Roblox Terrain (terrain editor, materials, water, caves).
- Blend terrain, meshes, and foliage seamlessly for natural-looking worlds.
- Optimize maps for low-end to high-end devices (mobile, console, PC).
- Balance visual fidelity with frame rate, memory usage, and streaming performance.
- Work closely with engineering to ensure environments are performance-safe and technically sound.
- Iterate quickly based on playtests, metrics, and community feedback.
Requirements:
- Strong, hands-on experience with Roblox Studio.
- Deep understanding of Terrain, MeshParts, Models, StreamingEnabled, and Workspace hierarchy.
- Proficiency in 3D modelling (buildings, foliage, props) with clean topology.
- Understanding of scale, modularity, and reusability for live-service games.
- Strong sense of composition, lighting, color, and biome differentiation.
- Ability to guide player attention through landmarks, silhouettes, and layout.
- Optimization Knowledge; Triangle and part count reduction, Texture atlas usage, LOD strategies (manual or structural), Collision optimization, Draw call and instance management
- Comfortable working with versioned assets, shared libraries, and naming conventions.
- Able to receive direction, iterate quickly, and deliver within deadlines.
Bonus Skills:
- Experience shipping live Roblox games with high CCU.
- Familiarity with biome/world theming across multiple maps.
- Awareness of Roblox platform constraints and evolving best practices.

- Fully remote, but if Vegas sounds exciting, we can chat about relocation options.
